12 Two Types of Citation

In Chicago Style, there are generally two parts to a citation:

  • a footnote or endnote
  • a bibliography at the end of your paper

In some cases, however, footnotes or endnotes may be all that is required. Ask your instructor if you should use footnotes or endnotes for your assignment and whether a bibliography is required as well for all your sources.
